I worked as an academic and career counselor at California State University, East Bay at the Concord and Hayward campuses for 10 years. I also have 20 years of experience in a variety of management positions in the private sector, education and non-profits. I have taught the job search process to a wide range of people including blue collar and service workers, engineers, nurses, teachers, managers, accountants, administrative and high tech workers. I managed the downtown Oakland One Stop Career Center at 12th and Broadway in Oakland, a bustling public career and jobs center in partnership with EDD. I have counseled hundreds of individuals and designed and conducted workshops in all aspects of the job search as well as life planning and getting organized. I have enjoyed counseling students in their early 20’s as well as re-entry students in their 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and even 60’s, veterans, non-native English speakers, parolees, people with disabilities and those from a multitude of cultures.
When I officially retired from CSUEB, many students and colleagues expressed the wish to remain in contact as well as to be updated on projects and movements I’m involved in. I am a natural networker and love hooking people up with resources and each other. This website is an attempt to do that around many issues that are very important to me.
